Nature’s Gate Papaya Moisturizer Vs Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea

nature's gate papaya moisturizing lotion

This article compares two natural body lotions: Nature’s Gate Papaya Moisturizing Lotion, and Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea Ultra Moisturizer.

Body lotion is a must for every woman. My mother always taught me that putting lotion on your skin is much like putting it inside your body. The skin absorbs the ingredients of the lotion, and takes those substances into your system. For that reason, I try to use products on my skin that are as natural and free of harmful chemicals as possible.

Bottle Design/Marketing
Although I know they are similar products, I am instantly more attracted to the Kiss My Face lotion. The bottle design, though not exactly sleek, is more appealing than that of the Nature’s Gate lotion. This is due to the colorful and shiny sticker on the front of the bottle with images of the flowers I will be putting on my body. I also cannot help but be attracted by the slogan of the Kiss My Face Lotion: “obsessively natural.” It makes me want to be a part of it.

Scent
Upon opening the bottles the first thing I notice is the scents. The two products have different scents, so I cannot make a direct comparison, but I will say that both are lovely. The Nature’s Gate Papaya smells delicious, light, and fresh. The Kiss My Face Lavender is a stronger fragrance, and smells like a spa.

Feel
Each lotion has a slightly different feel. The Nature’s Gate Papaya Lotion goes on slightly thicker and creamier than the Kiss My Face Lotion. It feels nice on the skin, and gives my elbows an immediate feeling of moisturizing relief. The Kiss My Face lotion goes on a bit thinner. It is slightly more milky than creamy, but smoothes onto my skin well. It is not quite as relieving to my dry elbow as the Nature’s Gate Lotion.

Absorption
After a few minutes, both products have absorbed nicely into my skin. The Kiss My Face Lotion, which is on my left arm, feels like it has absorbed slightly better. There is no greasy residue at all. The Nature’s Gate has also absorbed, but my skin is left with a slight feeling of having just put on lotion. This is not a bad thing, but it is clear that the Kiss My Face absorbed into my skin slightly better.

Effectiveness
Having used both of these products, I can say that they are both extremely effective at moisturizing the skin. Both leave my skin feeling soft and supple. Even the cracks on my dry elbows have disappeared on both arms.

Price
Since both the Nature’s Gate Papaya Moisturizing Lotion and the Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea Ultra Moisturizer are sold in specialty health food stores, they are not inexpensive. The prices on them are not prohibitive, however. The Nature’s Gate Papaya Lotion is slightly less expensive, running about $8 to $9 for 18 ounces. The Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea Lotion is a few dollars more, running about $10 to $11 for 16 ounces. They can be purchased at stores like Whole Foods, GNC, and various independent health food stores.

Animal and Earth Friendliness
The wonderful thing about both of these products is that they are natural and friendly to the earth and to animals. Neither the Nature’s Gate Papaya Lotion nor the Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea lotion contain any animal-derived ingredients. Further, neither product is tested on animals. This is important to me in shopping for my beauty products, and both of these lotions pass muster in that area. In addition, both products are made with all-natural ingredients, and contain no artificial colorants.

I would highly recommend both Nature’s Gate Papaya Moisturizing Lotion and Kiss my Face Lavender & Shea Ultra Moisturizer to all.
