Both acne care systems have their advantages over the other, and both also have weaknesses and shortcomings.
Murad vs ProActiv
People have been using both systems for years, hoping against hope to be delivered from their acne sufferings, and some have found the results they were searching for.
Still others of us are in the process of finding a product that will work for them. For these people, let’s see how the fight turns out. Then we might have a better idea of which system may be right for us.
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get ready to rumble! It’s Murad vs Proactiv!
Murad or Proactiv: A Closer Comparison
To get below the surface of this debate, let’s take a look at consumer reviews for both products and see which has the best pros and the worst cons. Then we may be a step or two closer to making the decision of who wins in the battle: Murad vs Proactiv.
Murad Pros:
- Instant Success – While a lot of similar products seem to take forever (if ever at all) to work, there are some consumers who have claimed that Murad worked for them almost instantly.
- Fresh Feel – A lot of people say that the Murad cleanser leaves your skin feeling fresh and smooth.
Murad Cons:
- Burning Sensation – The exfoliating gel tends to make people feel like their faces are on fire. This was a big drawback with the online consumer review community. A health and beauty product should never be as painful as this.
- Irritates Skin – People with sensitive skin have found that the process of using Murad irritates their skin to no end, leaving it flaky, red, and horribly dry.
Proactiv Pros:
- Skin Smoother – Many consumers found that where they didn’t have acne on their faces, the skin became nice and smooth.
- Acne Blaster – While a lot of consumers may be less than enthused about Proactiv’s ability to eliminate acne, some people have had very positive results with as much as 80% of their skin clearing up completely.
Proactiv Cons:
- Overpowering Smell – One of the biggest negative results of using Proactiv, according to many online consumer reviews, is that it gives your skin a terrible odor.
- Flaky Skin – Quite a few consumers have found that after using Proactiv’s line of products, their skin has become red, dry, and awfully flaky. This is a big con.
Is Murad Better Than Proactiv?
That’s a good question. While they both have decent benefits and advantages, they also have terrible downsides.
So, in order to make this final decision, we have to go to the online consumer review community. Because while no single product will ever be the favorite of everyone who uses it, the review community will let you know (by way of the average scores for certain products) whether or not a lotion, moisturizer, or skin care system is worthy of your time to explore further.
So what does the community say?
They say that while they both have their upsides and downsides, it is Murad that people have been happier with.
Proactiv definitely has its benefits, but in the end, the battle royale of Murad vs Proactiv ends with…
A Murad victory!

I used Murad for over 10yrs since I was almost 15.Recently I decided to try proactive due to the fact my skin was still breaking out.Proactive dried out my skin but it really worked.I have actually decided to stick with proactive over murad after all those yrs of using murad.Murad is good if your acne is not to bad but if you have really bad breakouts proactive will work better just really moisturize when using proactive it dries out your skin but really does work.I have very very sensitive skin and proactive took over murad I hate to say it..
