Lancome has become a trusted name in cosmetics, and I have recently started using a few of their face products. I have a skin condition called Melasma, which is a condition that plagues many women today. Symptoms are dark spots on the face, but they are not related to the sun, but rather to female hormones. The solution is to use sunscreen, as the sun will make the spots darker, and that is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

Description

This product works similar to a foundation, but it’s lighter and not as easily noticed on the face. It is described as a high potency tinted moisturizer, and what made this appealing is that it contains a good SPF 30 sunscreen, one that is a broad spectrum sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection.

The moisturizer comes in a 1.7 ounce white plastic tube, with a twist off lid. Just like liquid foundations, this moisturizer comes in four different shades from which to choose: Intensity I naturel, Intensity II sand, Intensity III bisque, and Intensity IV bronze. The Lancome website shows the color of each of these shades.

Lancome claims that the product has anti-oxidants, that it is vitamin enriched, and that it provides even coverage for a smooth, soft, visibly flawless result.

My Experience

I was very excited when I found a tinted moisturizer! I love the look that a foundation gives to the skin, but when I apply it I always feel like I am wearing a mask. Part of that is due to my not being able to find the correct shade to match my skin tone. This tinted moisturizer seemed like the perfect solution, and it was giving me the added sunscreen that my face needs on a daily basis!

Ordering from the Lancome website was simple, but the free shipping offer took three weeks to arrive in Alaska. I was a little disappointed with the accuracy of the shade chart at Lancome.com, I chose the “sand” shade, but when I used it, the shade looked much darker than on the site. I solved this problem by mixing this product with another Lancome cream, that comes in a small jar. Adding the moisturizer with sunscreen to another cream lightened the color enough that I could use it with no problems. The next time I order this product, and there will indeed be a next time, I will order the lightest shade.

The moisturizer has a pleasant scent that is soothing and not at all irritating to my senses. It indeed does go on smoothly and easily, without any oiliness, and absorbs into my face very easily. The Lancome site says this gives 24 hour nourishing moisture for ideal hydration. I do feel it is a great moisturizer, but I can’t say I can back up the 24 hour claim.

All in all, I am very pleased with this product. I now know that I need to order the lightest shade the next time I place my order, and feel that the quality of this product is worth the $44 price tag.
