For about twenty years I have been going to the dermatologist for acne issues that I have found to reign on my summer fun in the sun. As many acne prone individuals already know, sunblock and suntan lotion is very hard to purchase. Finally, my infatuation with Aveeno has escalated with its new Aveeno Daily Moisturizer that actually contains SPF 30. It is a blessing to those with “not so perfect” skin.
Year after year, summer after summer I have found myself sticking indoors just to stay out of the sun in fear of sweating and/or having more damage done to my skin. Acne is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands. Therefore, when a person exits the comforts of an air conditioned building or car, sweating can occur which will inflame this disease and cause a massive inflammation; hence, causing the growth of more unwanted pimples.
If this were not enough fear to be placed on an acne prone person, the fear of the harmful ultraviolet rays such as UVB and UVA are also a common agitation. Sever cases of acne, such as mine, is usually kept to a minimal by dermatologist prescribed medications such as Retin-A, Tazorac, and Accutane. One of the main precautions a person on any acne medication should be careful about is the increase of the negative impacts the sun’s rays on medicated skin. A third degree burn can be caused with an extended exposure to the summer’s sun if proper protection is not taken in precaution.
My dermatologist brought forth a sample of Aveeno’s amazing daily moisturizer as a precautionary sun tan lotion. It is brand new this year, adding another top-notch quality product to the Aveeno line. The best part, it can be placed on the face and five minutes later makeup can be safely applied over the lotion.
When I first tried this daily moisturizing lotion with SPF 30, having numerous bad experiences with lotion, I was fearful. I opened the light green cap and was amazed at the natural clean smell of it. Most lotions that dermatologists have recommended to me in the past were very “chemically” smelling, which is a turn off. This one is created using a total soy complex, hence the light fresh smell. As my dermatologist recommended, I used only a pea-size amount for my entire face. I thought she was crazy suggesting I only put a pea-size amount for the entire face, it really is enough though. I light spread it over my face and could hardly tell it was even there. If it wasn’t so cold, I would have not even have known it was still on my face.
After the suggested five minutes for the lotion to dry, I continued with my daily routine of adding makeup to my face. The makeup was not affected at all by having the lotion on my face; it was actually easier to blend to make an even tone. I wore the makeup with lotion underneath the whole day without any problems. In fact, my usual second layer of foundation in the middle of the day did not have to be done. The lotion underneath the makeup actually held the makeup on my face better than without anything. Plus, I can go outside without fearing sunburn; I can get a color without fearing future skin damage.
Aveeno is my first suggestion to anyone looking for an added protection against the harmful summer (or winter) sun rays. It costs less than ten dollars from most retail stores and lasts a long time. Each application only requires a pea-size amount, unlike other lotions that run out in no time. In addition, it evens out your skin tone and texture and helps you save money on makeup. All together this lotion is a winner that everyone should think about trying just once. Once you try it, you will never turn back. So, if you are seeking a facial lotion that has SPF protection benefits that can be placed under makeup, this is your best solution!
